BUDDY GUY: ‘The Blues Don’t Lie’

Buddy Guy is a living legend of the blues. A pioneer of the genre, he's responsible for some of the most iconic tracks in music. Making music for over half a century now, his new album, 'The Blues Don't Lie,' is a return to form for the 86-year-old musician. This new EP also marks a milestone as it will be released on September 30, 2022; exactly 65 years after Buddy's arrival into Chicago, where he arrived in the year 1957 and later became one of the most important figures in the Chicago blues scene, influencing generations of artists many of us have grown up with (Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and John Mayer to name a few).

‘The Blues Don’t Lie' will feature collaborations with many notable musicians like Mavis Staples, Elvis Costello, James Taylor, and more. Buddy Guy’s unique style of playing helped shape the sound of Chciago blues and has won him numerous accolades, including nine Grammy Awards. He has been ranked by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and his song "Stone Crazy" was ranked 78th in the Rolling Stone’s list of "100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time".

Perhaps greater than listening to Buddy Guy over the airwaves, or interweb streams, is experiencing the man’s talent live in concert. At almost 90 years of age, Buddy still tears it up on stage, more than many musicians even half his age. A recent stop in Chicagoland was only one of many that have taken him to a majority of major cities across the U.S. and we hope he returns after the release of 'The Blues Don't Lie'. For now, the tour continues into October 2022 and here are some shots from his appearance in Evanston, IL. Enjoy!
