MON LAFERTE, PALOMA MAMI, and GEPE represent Chile at the GRAMMYs

November 2021 - On Thursday, November 18, the 22nd Latin Grammy Awards will broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and three of Chile's brightest stars will make their way to Sin City this year to represent their country in the most prestigious ceremony in Latin music: Mon Laferte, Paloma Mami, and Gepe.

Chilemúsica, sectoral brand for the promotion of the Chilean music industry abroad, founded by IMICHILE and ProChile, is a fierce advocate for Chile's native talent abroad, and thanks to the efforts of ProChile, the presence of the country's musical exports on the global stage is growing greater every year. During the last two years, and with the objective of positioning the supply of goods, services, artists and Chilean inventory in the U.S. market, ProChile has supported the production of Chile Connected, an event that seeks to be a place for trade between agents in the Chilean and U.S. music industries.

Once again, the nominees representing Chile at the Latin Grammys this year come from diverse genres, offering a rich sampling of the broad range of unique and supremely talented artists that are rising from the country's innovative music scene. The director of Chilemúsica, Oliver Knust, comments: "The Latin Grammys are the most meaningful awards in the Latin music industry, and Chile has again succeeded in delivering its incredible artists to this renowned platform. Our country is proud to celebrate the artists who have shared our culture with the world."

Mon Laferte, who will perform during the ceremony this year, is nominated in four categories: Song of the Year ("Que se sepa nuestro amor" with Alejandro Fernández), Best Pop Song ("La mujer" with Gloria Trevi), Best Singer-Songwriter Album ("Seis"), and Best Regional Song ("Que se sepa nuestro amor"). Her nominations this year bring her cumulative list of Latin Grammy nominations to an impressive 15, which include her first win in 2017 for Best Alternative Song ("Amárrame"). Laferte is fresh off the release of her new album "1940 Carmen," the second album she's released this year.

In 2021, new sensation Paloma Mami finds herself nominated in the Best New Artist category. The young singer and songwriter, who was born in New York and raised in Santiago, Chile, penned her first song at 18 and became the first Chilean artist to sign to Sony Music Latin. She is now enjoying the extraordinary fruits of her labor, having released her highly anticipated debut album "Sueños de Dali" earlier this year to wide acclaim.

Gepe is celebrating his first-ever Latin Grammy nomination this year for the song "Confía," a cut from his album "Ulyse" featuring Argentine musician and composer Vicentico as a special guest, in the Best Alternative Song category. Gepe recently released his new EP "Fe,", a powerful project in which he's revived celebrated classics from the Latin American songbook while sharing his own musical history with fans around the world. The EP precedes new original music from the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, which is slated for release next year.
